Our Story

We are Garry and Hazel Miller and our four children Amy, Tamar, Maisie and Kyle. We are a family run farm on the edge of the Lake District; we farm about 250 acres of land, 100 acres which we own and another 150 that we rent. We have sheep, cattle, pigs and free range hens for egg production. We also have sheepdogs, horses, beehives and lots of wildlife on our farm.

It all started with sheep, over 30 years ago. I kept a few sheep on my uncle's farm where I worked on weekends and Hazel and her mother had some sheep on a few of her grandfather's fields. Hazel and I are both first generation farmers; both of our fathers were wagon drivers but we have both had a close connection to farming through Hazel’s grandparents and my uncle, as well as living in a heavily agricultural area.

We built our house in 1997 and started building the farm up after that. We have gone from about 50 sheep to over 500 plus lambs. Over the years we have bought land and machinery, built sheds, borrowed a lot of money and planted thousands of trees.

Our passion and drive comes from a love of animals, farming, wildlife and being in the countryside. One of our aims in opening up our farm to the public is to diversify and create an additional income stream. We are also very interested in educating and informing others on farming practices. We also want to promote having a stronger connection to our food, show the reality of farming and share our philosophy of constantly trying to improve and then ultimately leave our land, farm and the wildlife that is a part of it in a better state than we found it.
